Youth Climbing Squads
Structured weekly coaching for young climbers who want to develop confidence, technique, training habits and long-term progression.
The aim is to help young climbers become confident, independent and capable athletes while keeping training safe, structured and enjoyable.
What the squads include:
Technical coaching
Movement skills, route reading, tactics and confidence.
Strength & conditioning
Age-appropriate physical preparation to support climbing.
Squad Groups
Group placement is based on age, availability, maturity, coaching needs and the current make-up of each group. The groups are not performance tiers.
Development Squad
Birth years: 2019–2022
Sessions: 1.5 hours per week
A development-based group for younger climbers starting structured coaching. Focuses on confidence, coordination, movement basics, listening skills and enjoyment of climbing.

If there may be a suitable space, your child may be invited to a trial session
After the trial, I’ll advise whether the squad is the right fit

Structured training, individual targets and parent/athlete communication.
Squad A
Birth years: 2012–2016
Sessions: Monday 5:30–7:30, Friday 5:00–8:00
Squad B
Birth years: 2012–2016
Sessions: Wednesday 5:00–7:30, Friday 5:00–8:00
Squad C
Birth years: 2011 or earlier
Sessions: Tuesday, Thursday 5:30–8:30
Squad A, B and C are regular training groups for young climbers training consistently each week. These groups focus on technical coaching, movement skills, route reading, physical preparation, competition preparation and positive training habits.
